New Zealan'ds market leading document solutions provider, Konica Minolta has achieved Anvironmental Choice New Zealand accreditation.
Although symbolized by a tick, Environmental Choice accreditation is anything but a “tick the box” initiative for Konica Minolta. The New Zealand operation has long been committed to environmental sustainability.
Konica Minolta, General Manager, Warwick Beban says: “The process of gaining accreditation brought our team closer together because we were all working for a common goal, that affects all of us as New Zealander’s.
“It was also heartening to see the accreditation criteria reflecting our own internal environmental sustainability policies,” says Mr Beban.
At Konica Minolta the responsibility for environmental sustainability is a shared company wide commitment.
Mr Beban says: “Gaining the Environmental Choice accreditation was a logical step for our team, as we move along our environmental road map for the future.”
The Environmental Choice "ecolabel" identifies overall environmental preference of Konica Minolta’s products based onstringent criteria relating to: legislative compliance, design, materials, emissions, noise, packaging, recycling, energy, duplex copying, availability of spare parts and consumables, paper and consumer information.
“We’re proud of our achievement and want our customers to feel assured they have a responsible partner in Konica Minolta,” says Mr Beban.
Konica Minolta has been busy carving out unique points of difference in the document solutions industry on the back of increased interest from key customers, such as Government agencies and large education institutions, toward environmental sustainability.
One example, where Konica Minolta is light years ahead of the competition is in multi-functional printer/copier machine refurbishment.
Each month Konica Minolta refurbishes over 300 multi-functional devices and resells them back into the market where they have been thoroughly tested and new parts added where needed. This creates very significant cost savings for its customers.
Furthermore, workable devices that are not suitable for the New Zealand market are exported to continue their working lives in South-East Asia and the Middle East.
Other environmentally sustainable initiatives that are being rolled out from Konica Minolta’s head office in Grafton, Auckland include: machine end-of-life disposal which ensures the plastic, metal and glass parts are fully recycled, environmentally sound battery disposal, packaging recycling and toner cartridge recycling.
In addition, to the new Environmental Choice label, Konica Minolta’s bizhub devices also proudly display the Energy Star, German Blue Angel Award, the Japanese Ecomark and are ISO14001 accredited.
